Philippe Zanolino donates Paintings to Museo Tula (video)
The local painter of French descent Philippe Zanolino produced paintings insprired by Tula, the leader of the great struggle for freedom of Curaçao slaves in 1795. The paintings titled: “Tula Signing the Bell of Liberty”, were donated to Museo Tula and to the Curaçao community on August 17, 2009, conmemorating the date on which the rebelion started in 1795.
Rene Rosalia, director of Kas di Kultura, introduces the artist and the painting in a news item broadcast by local television station Telecuraçao. The paintings are unveiled in the TulaMuseum in Landhuis Kenepa, accompanied by the sounds of typical afro-curaçao drums and singing by Elia Isenia.
